‘One of them came out and stung me in the eyeball’: Celebrities who have been STUNG BY BEES!

Bees can be both annoying and frightening and even celebrities are not immune to their stings. From an accidental encounter with the ‘innocent’ buzzing insects, to being attacked while filming a movie, these stars got more than they bargained for when they encountered bees.

Bees can be both annoying and frightening and even celebrities are not immune to their stings. From an accidental encounter with the ‘innocent’ buzzing insects, to being attacked while filming a movie, these stars got more than they bargained for when they encountered bees.

Jameela was interviewing the music superstar in 2015 when the pair were attacked by "like 500" of the killer insects attracted to a buffet laid out for Ronson. The 'Good Place' actress was quoted by The Sun newspaper as saying: "We were doing an interview in this mansion in Hollywood Hills. It was open air, and there was a massive feast that we’d laid out for Mark. This huge cloud started coming towards us and we couldn't work out what it was. It turned out to be the biggest swarm of killer bees that I’ve ever seen. They descended on the buffet. We had literally seconds to run into the house and get behind the glass."

Paltrow was deliberately stung by bees for one of her wacky wellness methods in an attempt to keep herself looking youthful. The Goop boss said: "I’ve been stung by bees. It's a thousands of years old treatment called apitherapy. People use it to get rid of inflammation and scarring. It's actually pretty incredible if you research it. But, man, it's painful."

A clip of the rapper and his team desperately trying to swat a bee as they partied in St. Tropez went viral last year. The 'Hotline Bling' hitmaker was seen ducking and diving as he tried to avoid being stung and later expressed his disdain for the winged beasts. He commented: "I hate bees on god."

The action hero wasn't stung by a bee but an attempt to ease the pain in his muscles went badly wrong when he overdosed on the insect's venom during the making of the 2017 movie 'Geostorm'. He told the UK TV show 'Lorraine': "I had heard of this guy injecting bee venom, because apparently it has many anti-inflammatory compounds. So, I’m like: ‘Come, come to New Orleans where we’re filming.’ So, he gives me a shot, and I go: ‘Oh, that's interesting’ – because it stings. Then he gives me 10 shots, and then I have the worst reaction. I kind of enter this anaphylactic shock. It's awful, creepy crawlies all over me, swelled up, heart's going to explode. But I go through it, and then I find out he gave me 10 times too much."

The ‘Real Housewives of Beverly Hills’ star took to Instagram in 2021 to reveal that she had been hospitalised after accidentally walking into a beehive. She captioned the post: "So this happened yesterday… I walked into a hive of bees and was stung multiple times. If you know me at all you know I’m allergic to bees and terrified of them. I can laugh at this now, but what you can't see is that they were in my hair and were literally chasing me."

In 2016 Shakira posted a video on Instagram to inform fans about the release of her new single, ‘Chantaje’. During the clip, Shakira is seen laughing and asks her now ex-partner Gerard Piqué to stop laughing at her. By the end of the video, she starts screaming and running after noticing a bee on her arm. She wrote: "When your man laughs at you while you try to make a video about your new single and then you discover a bee on your arm."

A heartbreaking scene in the 1991 film 'My Girl' sees Macaulay's character Thomas J. die after being stung by the insects - which he has a severe allergy to and he revealed that life imitated art on set. He told Vanity Fair magazine: "When I was doing ‘My Girl’, they released a couple of hundred bees onto me, actual live bees. I knew that this was not something that every kid was doing. At the same time, it was just another day at the office."

Chris revealed on social media that a bee had stung him directly in the eyeball after he had been inspired by beekeeper Erika Thompson. In a video showing his injury, the 'Guardians of the Galaxy' star said: "So I’ve been following this bee lady on Instagram, she's so cool and brave and she goes in front of these hives of bees and says: ‘They’re very calm today. I’m going to remove the bee, I’m going to use my bare hands to sift through the bees and look for the queen.’ So, it's built up this false sense of security in me to where I said: ‘I think I can control bees, too’." Chris continued: "So, I saw a beehive two days ago and I went toward it and the man standing next to me said: ‘Be careful, there's bees,’ and I said: ‘These bees look very calm.’ And I just stared at these bees and then one of them came out and stung me in the eyeball. So, anyways, f*** that bee lady."

The actress got an unwelcome 27th birthday present in 2014 as she was stung. Blake wrote on her now-defunct lifestyle site Preserve: "I felt an electric shock of energy-- was it excitement that I was about to turn another year older? Was it nerves? Why did it feel like agony? I like getting older... I think. But this felt terrible. Does your butt quite suddenly (and painfully) deflate when you turn 27? Because mine hurt like hell ...then my neck, back, legs and forehead. And oh my hands! They were shriveling. It felt like I was being shot by dozens of tiny invisible darts. I felt like the Wicked Witch, melting, melting, burning, melting. As it happens, I wasn't being greeted by the onset of spontaneous aging, but rather a full-fledged bee day. Attacked. All over. Everywhere."

'The Crown' star suffered bee hallucinations after being put on painkillers for a dental procedure and was unable to do any acting work that day. They told British Vogue: "I was getting my wisdom teeth, so they put me on really strong US painkillers. I was so out of it that I thought I was being attacked by bees. They had to send me home because, every take, I was swatting bees away."
